Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding The Global Stage

What is The Global Stage?

The Global Stage is a unique, live, asynchronous conversation space designed to bring together interesting people from around the world.

Key features include:

  • Global Reach: Connect with participants worldwide.
  • Live Translation: All messages are automatically translated, breaking down language barriers.
  • Async & Authentic: Engage with diverse, vetted participants asynchronously. Jump in when you want, build your presence. No logins required.
  • Dynamic & Active: The stage rewards current activity and makes room for new voices when conversations evolve.

How do I join the Stage?

Joining requires verifying your identity via X or Farcaster:

  1. Visit the Stage page.
  2. Copy the unique join message provided (it includes a unique code).
  3. Post that exact message publicly from your X account or your Farcaster account (e.g., via Warpcast).
  4. Copy the URL (link) of your X post or Warpcast post, OR the cast hash (0x...) of your Farcaster post.
  5. Paste the URL or Hash back into the input field on the Stage page and click "Verify & Join Stage".

The system uses your public profile (X or Farcaster) picture and follower count.

How is Stage Access Managed? (Keeping it High-Signal)

The Global Stage uses dynamic rules to ensure the conversation remains active, relevant, and high-signal. It's not just about getting on stage, but contributing value.

  • Activity Matters: Participants who haven't posted a message in over 2 hours become eligible for replacement if the stage is full (30 participants). This prioritizes active contributors.
  • Relevance & Influence (Follower Proxy): When the stage is full, follower counts (relative to the current stage median) are also considered. Participants with significantly lower follower counts, especially if inactive, are prioritized for replacement. This acts as a proxy for current influence and helps maintain a baseline signal.
  • Joining a Full Stage (Replacement):When the stage has 30 participants, a new person can only join by replacing an existing participant who is eligible (typically due to inactivity or lower relative follower count). To replace someone, the new joiner must:
    • Meet the current minimum follower requirement (based on the stage median).
    • Have more followers than the participant they would replace.

Why these rules? This dynamic system prevents the stage from becoming stagnant. It continuously makes room for active, relevant voices while ensuring a consistent level of influence among participants, leading to a higher quality, more engaging global conversation.

You can see your current eligibility status indicated by an icon next to your name in the participant list on the Stage page.

How do translations work?

When you post a message, it is automatically translated into all other supported languages using AI (currently via OpenAI).

Everyone sees messages translated into their own selected language in real-time. You can change your preferred language using the dropdown at the top of the Stage page.

The goal is seamless global communication.

How do Discussion Topics work?

Anyone currently on stage can submit discussion topics to guide the conversation.

Submitted topics appear in a queue on the sidebar. Messages can optionally be posted as replies to specific topics.

Is the Stage moderated?

Yes, an AI moderator monitors conversations and submitted topics to ensure discussions remain constructive, safe, and free from harmful content.

The AI may also occasionally prompt discussion or suggest topics if the conversation lulls.

What notifications will I see?

The stage uses real-time updates. You'll see:

  • New messages appear instantly (translated to your language).
  • Participants joining or leaving the stage.
  • New discussion topics being submitted.
